A Little Bit About The Artist
A Statement From The Artist
I am a Hull-based freelance artist. I use a range of materials and processes including photography, filmmaking, collage, animation, painting and printing techniques. I am interested how our identity can be formed by the persistent memories of elements from our cultural past such as of television, cinema, theatre, art and music and how this shapes our being and existence. My practice also includes creating concepts, scenery, costumes, props and characters for immersive art installations and theatrical events collaborating with performers. I am particularly interested in the alchemical reaction when artistic outcomes meet the audience and the surprising creative energy this can produce.
Whats your favourite monster and why?

I love the 'Crack Fox' and 'Old Gregg' in the Mighty Boosh. I love the use of humour embedded into the creepy nature of these creations.

Do you like scary movies? And if so which ones?

II like psychologically scary movies particularly Hitchcock movies such as 'The Birds' and 'Psycho'. I also enjoy movies by Guillermo del Toro including 'Pan's Labyrinth' and The 'Shape of Water'.

What’s the biggest influence on your work?

I am inspired by the work of Cindy Sherman, Tim Walker and David Lynch (RIP).
